Beauty Treatments Recommended by Simply Classic Events to Clear Your Skin Before a Big Event or Wedd

We all know that experimenting with new skincare before a big event is a major risk. However, we here at Simply Classic Events know how important it is to have glowing skin so we put together a quick guide of all the best treatments to prepare you for your big day. Just remember, with most of these it’s important that you also try the treatment 3-6 months before your event, just to gauge how your skin will react.

Alright, let’s get to it!

1. Microneedling: Up to $350/session

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment in which tiny needles puncture the top layer of skin in order to trigger your body’s natural wound healing process and produce new collagen and elastin. Sounds painful, I know, but patients report there is little to no pain or discomfort, as your technician uses numbing cream. This procedure improves texture and firmness of skin while reducing the appearance of scars, pores, stretch marks and fine lines! Normally it is used in combination with a topical treatment, such as a vitamin-rich serum or PRP (I’ll explain later). This ensures that the topical will penetrate deeper than if it was simply placed on top of the skin. If you have deep acne scars or intense wrinkles 3-5 treatments 1 month apart are suggested. You can’t apply makeup and might experience redness up to 3 days following the procedure.

* Please note that microneedling can’t be performed on skin with active breakouts because it could spread the bacteria, resulting in more breakouts!

2. PRP/Vampire Facial: $350-$900/session

This facial, called the platelet rich plasma (PRP) facial was made popular by Kim Kardashian, who posted a selfie of her face covered in blood. Don’t be alarmed! This treatment includes taking blood from a patient and using a centrifuge to split the red blood cells into platelets and plasma. Normally this plasma is applied to the skin before/after microneedling, allowing the needles to push the stem cells and plasma deep into the dermis, which encourages healthy healing. Using your own blood might sound weird but it ensures there will be no adverse reactions since there is no foreign substance being introduced to the skin. Now onto the benefits! This procedure improves skin tone, texture and fine lines. These results will show up 3-4 weeks after your treatment and can last up to 18 months and you may need multiple treatments (3 is suggested). You can expect to experience slightly tender skin and mild redness for 1-3 days and you want to avoid massaging or touching the skin and exercise. More extreme reactions heal within a week and include swelling, occasional scabbing/bruising and pseudo-sunburned skin. This facial is expensive but normally you can find better deals when buying a package of 3+ treatments.

If you are located in San Diego We highly recommend you see Chrissy Torres at B Medical Spa, you can book directly by emailing her here!

3.Microdermabrasion: Up to $120/session

This minimally invasive treatment sands your skin with tiny crystals or diamonds and suctions off the dry, dead skin cells. This helps to unclog pores, remove blackheads and exfoliate your skin. This encourages the production of a new layer of skin cells with higher levels or collagen and elastin. Age spots, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, stretch marks, large pores and acne scars are targeted by microdermabrasion. This is especially great for people with uneven skin tone, texture or a dull complexion, but doesn’t do much for deep wrinkles, dark brown spots or redness. Results are immediate but 6-12 sessions are suggested. For the 24 hours after your procedure you need to avoid excess perspiration and your skin may appear flushed.

*Patients with rosacea should stay especially clear of microdermabrasion.

4. IPL/Photofacial: Between $150-500/session

The skin is flashed with pulses of light to rebuild collagen, treat rosacea and even skin tone with a photofacial. This 30 minute procedure is useful for sun damaged skin (brown spots, broken capillaries, redness and spider veins), and improves fine wrinkles and even increases skin elasticity! There is a suggested 2-6 treatments, 1 month apart but most improvement shows after 3 months. Photofacials can produce sunburn-like symptoms for up to 2 weeks after treatment and you MUST avoid sun exposure after treatment.

*However, tanned or darker skin reduces the effectiveness of this treatment.

5. LED Light Treatment: Up to $200/session

This treatment can be different every place you go, because there are 4 types of light (red, blue, pink and white) that can be used, and not everyone needs the same thing. But the idea is that each color triggers different reactions beneath the epidermis and penetrates the skin and various depths. The two most common lights are red and blue: blue light is used to kill bacteria that causes acne and red light helps speed up healing and stimulate collagen, which can shrink pores and tighten skin. There are at-home LED masks you can buy. They run about $300, only use red and blue light and you have to commit to using them every day to see results. White light, which penetrates deepest, tightens and reduces inflammation the most, is only available in-office. These facials are good for targeting areas that can’t really be reached using Botox/fillers and are painless, noninvasive, won’t burn your skin and produce no reactions. This makes them especially useful if your skin is sensitive or you can’t afford to lie low while recovering from other facials. Also, LED treatments last only a few minutes ( about 20 mins is a usual session) so you can fit them into your busy schedule easily. LED light help reduce acne, acne scars, wrinkles, dark spots and improve the skin’s texture. It also rejuvenates the appearance of your skin, giving it an overall glow. Normally it takes about 4 treatments to see noticeable differences in your skin.

6. Dermaplaning: Up to $150/session

A professional uses a medical-grade scalpel to gently scrape off the top layer of dead skin cells to exfoliate and reveal a smoother, brighter complexion. This removes peach fuzz and allows a greater penetration of skincare products and a flawless canvas for makeup, making it ideal if you’re going to be photographed. Not good for those with acneic skin yet wonderful for those with dry skin, but everyone in between will benefit from dermaplaning. This procedure is painless and there is no downtime needed to recover.

7. Microcurrent Facial: Up to $250/session

A device using low electricity, mirroring the body’s own natural electrical currents, is used on the skin triggering cell-level chemical reactions to enhance collagen and elastin production, increases circulation and sculpts, tightens and lifts your face. It is noninvasive and painless, too! All you will feel is a slight tingling sensation and, best of all, you will see results immediately. Normally microcurrent facials only cost around $125, but they are usually combined with other elements in a facial which leads to the higher price tag.

8. Traditional Facial: Up to $150/session

If you’ve ever had a facial before, chances are it went was a more traditional facial which normally includes elements like cleansing, exfoliation, extractions and massage and skin masks. These deeply cleanse the skin and may help fight certain skin problems like mild acne or dryness and leave you glowing and relaxed for a few days. However, these facials can’t treat severe skin issues like hyperpigmentation, severe acne, scars or wrinkles. The good news is that you can normally find really great Groupon’s for basic facials in your area, so if you’re looking for a cheap way to get a glow this is it!

*Don’t forget that if you plan on getting a traditional facial before an event you NEED to get one a few months (3-6) in advance to figure out how long it takes for your skin to recover from extractions and the products that may be used.
